You’re here - now what?

We don’t have a front desk, so when you arrive please remove your shoes (if wet - we have slippers) and come right in to one of our lounge areas. You’ll walk past our snack bar, and are welcome to help yourself to anything you see there if you’d like. The snack bar is fully vegan and nut free, we have milks and beverages in the fridge for a latte or something cold.

Your stylist will come meet you when they are ready to start your service, but you can ask anyone working any questions if you have any.

You’ll notice N95 masks in the entrance, if you have any symptoms or are getting over an illness we ask that you wear one during your time with us. We pride ourselves on being accessible, and our staff have chronically ill loved ones who we want to protect. We thank you for helping us keep Color + Shape an accessible and safe environment.

If you’re new here, check our out staff bios to find the stylist you think you’ll connect with the most. Our entire team are excellent hairdressers, and varied in personality and interests. If you’re unsure who might be best suited for you reach out here and we can help you decide.

BRITTANY She/Her

Visiting a salon can be a daunting experience, and I knew we needed to think outside the box to create the ultimate client experience.

Opening a salon that is inclusive and safe is so important to me. I want clients to feel welcome from the time they walk into our space and excited to return for their next appointment.

I’ve been a licensed hairstylist for over 15 years and am also a certified Trichology Practitioner.

I feel like it has taken me a while to find my niche in this industry because I’m passionate about the person in my chair. I like to start with a whole person approach, including scalp and hair health, personal style, lifestyle, skin tone and eye colour, and what you can maintain realistically.

I am Audhd (Autistic + ADHD), a hybrid of sorts, if you will, and this profession has allowed me to find myself. A proud mama to two feral children and a wife to an Italian stallion (don’t come at me, Danny!!!). I look forward to working with you to make all your hair goals come true.

Gabrielle She/They

Becoming a hairstylist was not the path I would have guessed I’d end up on growing up, but I don’t think I could have imagined a more rewarding career if I tried. It is such an honour to be trusted with something so personal — I never take that lightly. After working in larger salon for 8 years and not feeling like it was quite right, I moved to work independently and only then did I start to thrive in my career. After 5 years, I realized that the needs of the community were exceeding my capacity. I could either stay stagnant or expand, and if I know I can do better, I strive to — so I chose to expand. It is important to me to continue to provide a private experience for folks who may be nervous or have had unpleasant salon experiences (especially gender diverse folks) and anyone looking for a health-conscious provider. I know and love trans and disabled people, so having a space where they feel safe, cared for, and listened to is a high priority for me.

While not all my guests require privacy or the extra care that goes into affirming or health-conscious services, I have been able to build deeper relationships with all guests in my chair and believe that a hair service is more than a monetary transaction. There is an exchange of energy. We build a relationship where your everyday life is impacted by the outcome — and really, so is mine.

I am really excited to create a space for stylists looking to work in a shop that aligns with their values, and also to give more options for guests looking for a stylist they feel good supporting.
